Travel by Air

The Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport is located on Brown Road in Ithaca, NY. It is a 10-minute drive from campus and the conference hotels have complementary shuttle service from this airport. The Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport is serviced by the following:

Syracuse, New York

Syracuse Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, NY, is approximately 60 miles north of Cornell University with an estimated driving time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

  • Taxi and van service:
  • Ithaca Airline Limousine (1-607-273-3030 or 1-800-273-9197). You must call for a shuttle reservation, based on their scheduled times, at least 48 hours in advance. The cost is $80/one-way, or $110/round-trip (subject to change). (You also have the option of reserving a private shuttle, at a time you choose, for a higher cost.)

  • As an alternative to the shuttle service, you may choose to take a taxi from Syracuse to Ithaca. The taxi service is located in the Hancock Airport terminal. There are no schedules or advance reservations required, and you can usually depart for Ithaca as soon as you arrive. The cost is approximately $165/one-way. Another possible option is to rent a car at the Hancock Airport and drive to Ithaca.

Rochester, New York

Binghamton, New York

Greater Binghamton Airport in Binghamton, NY, is approximately 40 miles south of Cornell University with an estimated driving time of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Travel by Bus, Car and Train

Bus: If you are flying into a New York City-area airport, you may wish to travel by bus from there to Ithaca (a 5-6 hour trip). The following companies provide service between New York City and Ithaca:

Greyhound and ShortLine buses operate from the Port Authority Terminal in New York City, and area airports have shuttle/taxi services to take you there. The Cornell Campus-to-Campus buses provide express service between Cornell's Ithaca and New York City campuses. They are equipped with reclining seats, work tables, wireless and wired internet service, electric outlets at every seat, and satellite radio service. It offers two stop locations in New York City and brings you directly to the Ithaca campus.

Train: Amtrak train service is also possible, but the nearest station is in Syracuse. You can arrange shuttle transportation with Ithaca Airline Limousine from the Syracuse train station to Ithaca.
